OUR MISSION

Our Mission

The Bingham Community Big Band exists to nurture musical talent, build community through shared performance, and celebrate the tradition of big band music.

We create opportunities for musicians of all ages to learn, perform, and grow together, while inspiring the next generation and enriching the cultural life of Bingham and beyond.

How We Achieve This:

• Regular Rehearsals and Performances:

We provide consistent opportunities for musicians to rehearse, develop ensemble skills, and perform in a variety of settings — from community events to formal concerts.

• Mentoring and Support for Young Musicians:

Experienced players mentor younger or less experienced members, offering guidance in technique, improvisation, and the art of performance.

• Community Engagement:

We perform at local festivals, charity events, civic functions, and special occasions to bring live music to the heart of the community and to support important causes.

• Workshops and Masterclasses:

We organise educational workshops and masterclasses with professional musicians and educators to broaden skills, inspire creativity, and connect members with the wider music world.

• Partnerships with Schools and Music Organisations:

We collaborate with local schools, music services, and arts groups to encourage musical education and offer pathways for young players into community music-making.

• Scholarship and Development Programmes:

We are developing scholarship initiatives to assist promising young musicians with access to instruments, lessons, and performance opportunities.

• Celebrating Musical Heritage and Innovation:

We honour the rich tradition of big band music while also embracing new styles, modern arrangements, and original compositions, ensuring our music remains vibrant and relevant.

• Inclusive Membership and Accessibility:

We welcome musicians from all backgrounds, fostering an inclusive and supportive environment where everyone can participate and thrive.
